subway business = good
Was eating a subway sandwich earlier today and came to a revelation about business strategy in relation to subway:
-subway lets you customize your own sandwich (meaning you choose EACH and EVERY ingredient that goes into your sandwich), which right off the bat gives the customer freedom = good
the beauty of this system is that if the food tastes like shit, who’s at fault? YOU, the customer…because you chose EACH and EVERY ingredient, with this perspective, you can’t really blame subway for a crap-tasting sandwich because it was YOUR decision to put those pickles in that meatball sandwich ..ew
but hold on..we haven’t even hit the sweet spot..the true plus of this system is…
let’s consider a conventional restaurant where you choose a dish that they prepare in the kitchen in the back..and the dish ends up tasting crappy..odds are you aren’t gonna be going back to this restaurant to pay $ for crappy food..
now subway on the other hand…if one customizes his/her sandwich and it tastes crappy, there’s a pretty decent possibility that the customer will visit again and perhaps try some other combination of items (after all, there are a slew of combos possible) that will taste better…
that’s pretty illmatic. see..the ingredients in a subway sandwich are mostly raw vegetables, etc…key word-RAW..let’s look at a tapioca place where they mix many items to make a drink (e.g. passion fruit milk tea)…sometimes the ppl who make these really screw up the balance of say..tea and juice or whatever..and the drink tastes like sewage water (or it’s too bland)…who’s fault is this? those bastards who made the drink! definitely NOT your fault…get my point? it’s a smart subway plan and not easily recognized by the average consumer..=good
universal lesson: provide the tools/empowerment and let the the customer build their own product from as low –fundamentally– as possible and let them make their own mistakes
