    a couple thoughts

the journey –and decisions– i’ve made in the past year or two regarding the music project has been an interesting one.. as of late, i’ve been conversing with buddies, close ones, etc. and made some interesting observations about the feedback i’ve been receiving.. so, as anyone who reads or knows about “new things” / start-up’s / unconventional paths / “weird” ideas, etc.. can tell you.. most of these items are met with skepticism, cynicism, and/or ill thoughts during the initial stage (and a lot of times leads to ignorance)… let’s cite an example.. mm yahoo for instance.. jerry yang and david filo were doubted like mad when they were plotting the ‘yahoo’ scheme @stanford back in ‘94, or.. itunes.. legal downloading? who in their right mind would settle for such a joke? (500 million downloads as of today).. yeayea you get the point.. so such ‘new’ ideals are met with significant doubt and opposition @the start, but eventually gain momentum as the founding teams develop more confidence and convey more accurately and specifically the plans/objectives of the particular venture.. i truly wonder how much of the doubt factor makes a positive impact on the outcome of the venture… in other words.. you-say-i-can’t-so-you-inspire-me-to-prove-you-wrong mentality.. so back to reality, it’s kinda interesting to think about how thoughts of a start-up or out-of-this-world ideals are met with opposition and skepticism…and the motives (subconscious OR conscious) of such reactions.. true cynicism? jealousy perhaps? or to avoid less time spent with the individuals with such thoughts? i don’t know and i’m not assuming anything fo sho… but tying it back to my personal journey, it is truly interesting to have conversations with various individuals about the music project as it becomes more serious.. not as much support as in the past i would say, which as stated before.. is a good thing :o) or nervous support or … i guess it really takes a gut to take in the variety of ill remarks (good, authentic feedback? OR jealous..trying to screw you over?) and hearty responses (ignorance, i-don’t-care let’s talking about something else OR i-really-like-it-and-will-support-you) and process the reactions in a healthy and efficient manner.. in this respect, ppl like sergey brin or jerry yang or shawn fanning are truly geniuses i suppose.. anyhow, time to sleep.. video shoot tomorrow 311 says ‘fuck the naysayers’ in a lot of their tracks.. i don’t know if that’s the greatest advice..but i think there is definitely some value in it… i guess we’ll see how this giant musical journey will turn out in the end, as of now.. i am excited and foresee a good outcome, gambling is key… BOOM
