I guess I take photography a little more seriously now.. baoling (good friend from class) is very much into photography and uses a traditional camera to take photos. many of her photos are artistic with stories, after seeing her photos it makes me appreciate more the art of taking photos. i’d like to share some.

this is the view of downtown taipei from the 89th floor of the tallest building in the world, taipei101. it was a pretty exhilirating sight except there were lots of clouds that night so it was hard to see anything at times.

this photo was taken by baoling. i really like the memory associated with this photo. the setting is inside yang ming shan, a very famous mountain / landmark in taipei. on the right is a blind musician called lin jia de. he sings such beautiful music from the heart and it was really touching to watch him perform with such feeling. on the left is his friend and assistant, it was great chatting with her. she met lin jia de one day in the underground subway. she was so happy when ling jia de started playing her favorite song and she was so touched that she decided to start helping him with performances. ever since then, she devotes her time every weekend to helping lin jia de set up his gigs, fill his water bottle during performances, and collecting money for him. i was so happy to talk with her and to watch lin jia de perform, baoling and i watched him perform for about 30-40 minutes.

i took this photo near sun yat sen memorial hall. not many old couples show much affection towards one another in taiwan (at least from what i’ve observed). i was very touched when i saw this elderly couple holding hands. it was a good feeling.
