Skypecasts, Skype’s New Service. Better than Podcasts?
Earlier this year, Skype, a little program for making calls over the internet to anyone else, unleashed a new feature on their website called Skypecasts (Preview).

Definitely a catchy name.
Skypecasting allows up to 100 people from anywhere in the world to participate in online discussions. Think teleconferencing — or Podcasting, except now you can provide your input while listening. In fact, if you recorded a Skypecast, you can basically submit that file as a Podcast. The key flaw of Skypecasting (in comparison with Podcasting) is that a user has to be online and ready to chat at a given time in order to participate — versus downloading a Podcast whenever you desire.
I’m curious to see how users feel about this service and whether it will catch fire like Podcasting has. The concept is pretty elementary, basically a more organized way to get a lot of people chatting about a certain topic.
Skypecasting… winner or loser?
