MySpace versus Facebook, a BrainTeaser Comparison
Posted on 09 October 2006
Remember in elementary school math class when the teacher would provide students with little brainteaser problems to get the students in thinking mode? :)
Let’s apply some of that to Myspace versus Facebook. What do you think of these comparisons?

The Chart of Equivalents
Catch the similarities? An explanation of my thoughts on this figure in my next post.

Catch the similarities? Put simply..
MySpace = AIM = MadTV
Expl: MySpace is an OPEN community, just go to any MySpace website and you can view the user’s info, people’s comments, listen to their music player, etc.
AIM - again, OPEN chat service, I can add a random screenname, “ilovegeekwhat” and you’ll show up on my buddylist along with your profile info, etc. no need for authorization.
MadTV - crude humor, lots of stupid humor (funny nonetheless, just stupid).. UNREFINED is the word i’m looking for.
——-
Facebook - (until recently) a more organized and SELECT community i.e. college students. contained, and more sophisticated than MySpace. You need to be accepted by a friend before you can view their profile/info.
MSN - SELECT chatting, i can’t see you online or chat with you until you authorize my screenname
SNL - slightly more intelligent humor than MadTV, more based on current events or elitist topics. more REFINED.
Does this mean I’m vouching for one service over anoher? Not really. I use/watch all the services/shows in the figure. Although i do prefer certain features of certain progams.
