Facebook’s Notes Tool, Absolute Cleantastic
Simple, Clear, Clean. I use these three adjectives to describe Facebook’s “Notes” or (Blog) tool.
Have you seen a blog on Facebook? They are superb.
My posts are set up to automatically import as notes in my Facebook profile (see below). What I’m most impressed with is how the images are automatically compressed to the width of the column. No matter how f’ed up my posts are on my site, they will still look decent and presentable when imported as notes on Facebook.

Facebook’s Notes tool, as clean as clean gets
The formatting brings a new credibility to each user’s post. User design and interface is key. Intuition. I would even argue that in some if not most cases, usability and the GUI take priority over the function of the website i.e. if your site offers an amazing, groundbreaking tool but looks crap, no one’s gonna come back (with the exception of MySpace aka geocities jr.). Examples of great usability and interface:
-Google (search bar, no ads on frontpage)
-YouTube (just press play)
-NetVibes (cater upon first visit)
-Apple (cool, period.)
All largely successful websites. If Facebook were to design a similar template for Facebook, I’d switch over.
