A $600 Apple Laptop to Come?
Last week, I purchased shares of Apple (AAPL) at $84.86. I’ve long been a supporter of Apple products and have been thinking about investing in the company for a while now.

It seems like right now is a good time to jump on (if not earlier). Their market share in the PC world will continue to rise now that Apple supports both Windows and OS X. More and more PC users are jumping ship everyday, succumbing to the irresistible aesthetics of Apple’s computers.
I predict that Apple will reveal an even more affordable laptop in the near future.
Remember the Palm Zire?

A dumbed-down, totally affordable ($100) Palm device released for the people who were 50/50 on purchasing a Palm? Or what about the iPod Shuffle?

The minimalistic, simple form of the iPod that converted so many people who loved the iPod but not the price (iPod $250, Shuffle $99)? Items like the Zire and Shuffle are very pivotal in converting the masses. For those who love the Macbook and Powerbook slick appeal, but are hesistant on dropping a grand or two, Apple will be introducing that $600 model soon (Mac Mini of laptops if you will).
Other future catalysts: upcoming products like the iphone, iTV, and an iPod Zune-killer model.
One concern is the Apple stock backdating rumor which is still unconfirmed. But I’m not too worried about this.

I don’t own a hamster. But if I did, I would name it “Apple”.

Hi Tony,
I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now. I really like your content, your prediction on Apple’s next laptop is interesting. I see your thought process and agree with your thoughts on Apple’s business strategy. I’ll wait to buy that model ;)
Keep at it!

man, think i missed the boat to buy… its 97 bucks now. lucky you. what do you think of the tivo stock now that AAPL validated that the TV market is a promising sector for software titans like themselves to enter? fancy a google sniff on it soon?

Hey Bjorn, I think that both Tivo and HD are areas for potential growth in the near future. It’s just a matter of time. Google could definitely be the catalyst for Tivo but no hints of it just yet.
For now, I am happy with Apple’s status, looking forward to surpassing 100 :) ..as long as those backdating rumors don’t kill them.
