Bill Gates meets with Bloggers
Today Robert Scoble posted a great link to Micro Persuasion, where Steve Rubel recaps a Q&A session with Bill Gates.
Bill met with a small group of influential bloggers.

I think this is an awesome idea to build Bill and Microsoft’s coolness / credibility. There are 16 people in this photo (excluding Bill). Assuming that each of these bloggers write an entry about their talk with Bill (a given) and:
1) Each of these bloggers have a daily visit count of 5,000 (convservative)
2) A third of those visitors then blog about it (like me)
15 blogs x (5,000 visits/blog) * 1,500 = 112 million ppll!
This is of course assuming that those initial 15 bloggers reflect positively on meeting Bill.
What does this translate to? Zune is that much cooler, Xbox 360 is that much cooler, etc.
Microsoft is once again cool!! :)
Update: Whaddya know? Microsoft’s stock price just surpassed $30 today for the first time in more than 2 years.

Man Bill Gates is so dorky. Look at how he sits…he doesn’t sit with confidence or power. He slouches his shoulders. He has bad posture. And he doesn’t seem…vibrant. Oh well, what can you do? He’s the richest man in the world. If MSFT goes up $1 he makes more money than some countries make in an entire year.

Gates looks so whimpy :)
When is Tone going to perform in the States?

Good ol Gates :) I failed to mention that each of these participants were given a free Zune and USB thumb drive for attending.
What’s not to love?

hey stud,
great posts lately. one thing to consider is the amount of overlap in readers between the major bloggers. almost everyone has techcrunch, scoble, etc… regardless yea it was a smart and easy move by msft.

I may have missed this, but how did he find all these bloggers? It certainly is a great idea! I’m curious!

Thanks for the comment Noah! You bring a good point about the overlap in readers. :)
Emile, these participants are the creators of the most popular blogs on the internet (give or take). You’ll notice, for instance, Mike Arrington of TechCrunch in the top-left corner.

You are so right about this. Microsoft just impacted millions of people through the proper chain of command with probably their cheapest advertising campaign yet. $250 x 15 = $3750 =
