It’s just one of those days…

    Posted on 30 January 2007

Today has been rough. I got my car towed for the first time in my life today.

It sucked majorly. A lot worse than not having a meal tray on a flight. I parked in a supermarket parking lot after searching the the school garage for half an hour to no avail. Have you ever walked back to a parking lot to the exact location where you parked your car and it just wasn’t there? It’s a pretty helpless moment. You hit rock bottom.

Luckily, my buddy Justin came through and picked me up to bring me to the towing place to get my car. The cost? $242.50. Ouch x 100.

In retrospect, I learned a few important things:

      1. Be more alert.
      2. Stay positive (at least it wasn’t a car accident).
      3. Justin is a true homey. You rock Juice.
      4. DON’T GET YOUR CAR TOWED.

It’s been a sucky day but I’m just glad to be at home and alive. I think my parents read this blog. Sorry Mom/Dad!

Park on the street like me Tony, worse case scenario you get a $30 parking ticket! Best case scenario you save money (don’t have to buy a permit) and get to class faster. Only downside is you might get shot walking to class…

That sucks, Tony. Sorry to hear about it.

I have had this experience one time. I live downtown and somebody decided to have a carnival on my street. My car was missing and nobody knew anything. I freaked out, calling the police to see if they’d towed it (there were no towing company signs). Then I checked a nearby lot and found my car there. So, I didn’t have to pay anything. But it sure is a helpless feeling at first.

Charn - “Only downside is you might get shot walking to class…” lol don’t know if that’s the best trade off ;)

Adam, thanks for your condolences. I hope I don’t experience that feeling again any time soon!

I have had quite a few parking tickets in my time, more than I can remember. I have even interrupted the process of my car being towed and but I have never actually had my car not be where I had left it. I’m sorry for your hardship.

    6. Tony Chung Says:

Thanks Eric, I appreciate it man. :)

i feel your pain, tony. same shit happened to me the first day i moved into my new place in foster city from fremont. its one of those apartments where each unit only has a few allocated parking lots. I was so busy unpacking my stuff to realize i parked in the wrong lot. i only realized when i heard my security alarm go off due to the movement of the towing crane. saved me 80 bucks after arguing with the guy from the towing company but i still had to pay 80. that was a crappy day.

look on the bright side, at least we all learnt a lesson. =)

never had my car towed, but I did have it broken into. they stole all my stereo stuff, over 2 grand worth. ever since then I have been sub-less. now that I live in the city, I don’t even have a car! public tranportation baby!!!

Let me guess you parked next to lee’s? I’ve done that several times but managed to get away with it =0)

Next time you can’t find parking in the garage or the streets just park it in the 30 min parking spots in the garage…it’ll cost $40 instead of $240 =0)

How about getting a SUN parking permit from someone who lives close to campus?

Remind me to tell you what happened to me two weeks ago.Hey are you going to that event today…

Sometimes I’ll do the Pv garages downtown for $0.75/20min or whatever it is. Sucks, but if you’re in a bind…sure beats tickets/towing.

    13. Kevin Says:

Oh man tough noogies dude. Towing companies are like hired mercenaries for supermarkets. They get called up and like blood thirsty vampires they swoop in and bite you in the ass. My dad once parked at a Walgreens because we couldn’t find parking and within 10 minutes one of their parking lot guards put a tire shoe on our car. My dad had to pay him $60 to take it off. Funny huh? My lazy cousin didn’t pay her registration or renew her drivers license and she got pulled over at 11 p.m. on De Anza Blvd. The cop would’ve let her go for late registration but when he saw her expired license he called a towing company. Total cost: $300+ Why? Because every day you don’t pick up your car it’s like +$50 am I right?

Damn 14 comments!? I guess people are drawn to drama. Was it Fred Durst that sang “Drama makes the world go round?”

I’m glad you’re all right, $200+ fine aside.

Yeah, my parents found my blog awhile ago and the only thing they drew from it was, “You are a potty mouth.”

    18. Tony Chung Says:

haha That is hilarious Angela. :)
