Why do you Blog?
Posted on 06 February 2007
How much time per day do you spend on blogging? Have you ever thought about that? For me, I spend a few hours a day on the following items:
-
- Blogging (writing entries)
- Optimizing / designing my blog
- Reading and commenting on other blogs

Sound familiar?
Isn’t it funny that we spend all this time sharing our thoughts simply because we feel like doing it? Why do we do it? Unless you’re an A-lister, there’s certainly not much of an immediate return. I’ve thought long and hard and came up with a few reasons why I blog:
Wait. Erase that. You tell me first. ;)
So why do you blog??

I blog because i’ll feel particularly passionate about a certain thing. Whether it’s something i can rant and flame about, or just some humorous idea that I thought of…it’s a place i can PUT them. I mean i guess i could just write them down in a private diary or something, but there’s just something empowering about letting your ideas run wild on the world wide web.
anyway, long story short, i don’t use my blog as an online diary, i’d rather use it to instill laughter/anger/happiness into those few who actually do read it. ha ha.

I basically write out of boredom. I’ve thought about writing a tech blog but it seems like way too much work. I’m hoping to read my entries years from now and laugh at how angry I was and how I wrote about the most trivial things.

Blogging is a way for me to share my thoughts indirectly to people, so I don’t have to worry about re-phrasing my thoughts, or offending someone. If people choose to chime into channel Camille that’s their choice.
I like sharing things that I’m passionate about with others, and I like it with a little freedom sprinkled on top.

I blog so I can impress Tony and finally be able to go on a real date with him;)

Thanks for sharing everyone. Noah, you funny cat.
My reasons for blogging:
1. I like sharing stuff I’m excited about.
2. Increasing viewership is an addicting challenge.
3. Personal branding.
4. I thirst for your feedback (comments). :)

I don’t know about you but blogging sometimes makes be feel very arrogant. Thinking that other people care to read what you have to say and assuming that they want to know what you are doing all sounds pretty egotistical to me. I do it to waste time :)

I blog to communicate information that can help influence the decision-making of others. It’s that ability to take ideas to the masses that makes this whole process a joy.
On that note, to Tony’s readers: Please navigate to my blog, where you’ll find an opportunity to contribute to a great cause. Thanks in advance!

For me, it’s therapeutic. I have ideas, research, concepts–all of which are floating around in my head, so when I write about them, I’m experimenting with ways to enunciate this research. It’s fun to read feedback, the wiki-way: when smart people come together and collaborate on a concept, there’s intellectual progression, at least at the initial level, and that’s a good thing. Plus, it’s just really addicting…it’s hard to stop.
