My Friends Inspire me with their Achievements
I’m always inspired when my friends decide to do the damn thang and pursue their passions. It fires me up. A lot. So today, I’d like to dedicate this post to two of my buddies who are striving towards achieving their heart’s desire and making things happen.
First, my buddy Chyna Chuu. I first met Chyna when doing a music video back in 2005. She was working at one of the big tech companies in Silicon Valley and decided to throw in the towel to pursue her true passion: acting. So she moved down to LA and set up shop down there. Chyna’s achieved quite a bit since going down to LA. She’s showed up on a CSI episode, starred in a MC Hammer music video, and is acting in miscellaneous short films. She just notified me this week that she will be in the 79th Annual Oscars on TV this coming Sunday! She’ll be modeling Gong Li’s costume from the film “Curse of the Golden Flower” and will be walking out on stage for the Best Costume Design nominees. So be sure to look out for her! Totally rad! Congrats Chyna!
Second, my music partner in crime, Chris Baldomero. Chris is an awesome singer and songwriter. I met him in college back in 2003 and as soon as we began chatting music, it became crystal clear. We just clicked. Since then, we’ve recorded a few songs together and performed live a few times. Chris has an awesome voice. He told me earlier this year that he’s decided to do the damn thang and produce his first album. With technology as it is these days, a lot of production can happen in house. So he’s gathering his musical militia and doing it! Exciting exciting Chris!
Here’s Chris in action:

I’m super excited for these two friends. They are both really passionate about what they’re doing and have made sacrifices to do it. They’ve got the talent to go all the way. And it will happen sooner or later. If you’re fired up and pursuing your heart’s desire, GO YOU.

I just want to make a shout out to all those East Asian engineers out there. Go you guys! You guys help make the products of tomorrow and drive innovation and technology in America. Without you guys, who would fill the halls of engineering schools around the nation? Who would fill the empty upper-middle class homes left behind by the baby boomers? Exactly. We can’t drop the torch here guys. It’s tough being a model minority!
