February Reddit - Ugly Americans
In keeping with my 3 new year’s goals of reading 1 book per month, I’ve finished reading Ugly Americans by Ben Mezrich.
Review:
A short and great read. If you’re into stocks, money, or investing, this book is worth checking out. It reads like fiction but is based on a true story. Gist: how an Ivy League football player went to Japan after college and learned to game the Nikkei (Japan stock market) and other markets. He soon became a billionaire.
Quote:
I love this quote:
“Malcolm’s high school coach used to call it the Flash: the moment when rational thought ended and instinct took over, when the body reacted the way it was born to react. It was what separated the professionals from the amateurs, the true, internal athletes from the weekend hobbyists. The Flash was something you didn’t control, something animalistic and innate and completely unteachable. It was the split second that made heroes out of men and legends out of players.”
Have you experienced ‘The Flash’?
For March, I’m reading Keith Ferrarzi’s Never Eat Alone.

“AH-GU-REE AH-MEH-LI-KAN-ZU”
hehe.
I have a book suggestion: The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.
Although it is a little heavy and may take more than a month depending on how committed you are.

=) It took me five tries of verbally pronouncing the line to finally understand what you are saying. Let’s see if anyone else can decipher your esoteric code =)
Unbearable Lightness of Being… Heard of it. I like the title, will look into it.

Thanks Kristy, I’m sure you’re getting there. As the doc said in ‘What about Bob?’: Baby steps is the way :)
Everyone go and check out Kristy’s first book!
