What do you want? Do you know?
Do you know what you want in life? Today I was near Cisco so I decided to go and visit my former co-workers. It was really awesome to catch up with a bunch of friends there. Seeing them and the environment made me miss the place and the good times a bit.
But then I started to think…
I started to think about what I had achieved post-Cisco. Actually quite a few things that I probably wouldn’t have had the time to do if I were still working there.
And it made me realize that leaving was actually a relatively good decision. Yes it was hard at the time. But in retrospect, totally merited. When I was walking around the building today, I got verbally offered a few jobs by people who knew me from before. This is an interesting situation to be in. But you know what? Decisions are a lot less intimidating when you know what it is that you really want. When you know what gets you excited. So you know which opportunities to take and which to let go.
Let that resonate. I think it’s important to know what you want. And to go that route. Less regret. More excitement. Better life.

Tony,
You could not be more right! It took me quite some time to really figure out what it is I wanted to do when I grow up, but now that I know, I will follow it with a passion. It is funny how a lot of people wander through life, not really having a direction or passion, I think a lot do it without even knowing it. When you do figure it out, that is when the true fun begins!

Great advice.
Wait for the dream and strive for it when you have it.

I’ve always believed that you never regret what you do, you regret what you don’t do.
I want to own my own club.
When it’s open, will you all come?
Drinks are on the house! ; )
