Apple iReader due in July

That’s not all folks….
Robert Scoble was at Half Moon Bay earlier today and saw somebody holding some interesting tech gadget that he’d never seen before. He went over to talk to him and it turned out to be an Apple executive.
Bottom line: He spilled the beans and said that Apple will be introducing a new line of gadgets that will sync with the iPhone. The ‘iReader’ is a device built by the partnership of Amazon, Google, and Apple, due out in July or August. It’s comparable to the Sony Reader, which I was drooling over at Border’s the other day. If you haven’t seen one, go check it out. You’re reading a book on a small tech gadget, but it seriously feels like you’re reading a book. No strain on the eyes, not too bright, totally wicked rad.

As if there wasn’t enough hype already about the iPhone. I think Apple’s strategy will be to release the iPhone first in June and let all the early adopters and iPhone-hungry yuppies purchase the device. THEN they will release this plethora of sync-able devices to lure the skeptical 50/50 people into buying it (me). ‘Well, it’s too friggin expensive, but… it WOULD be convenient to be able to read my RSS feeds on Google reader when I’m mobile…. oh what the heck, I’ll buy one!!’ ;)
I don’t plan on buying an iPhone. But who knows. I may find a reason.
What about you?

Tony, at first read, the iReader did not seem interesting. However, you compelling description of Sony’s device has me interested in one. Would be a great way to read my
Google Reader feeds, too!
Oh, I do hope Apple does over expand and create any more Newtons. I’m an avid MacHead. Love how they are spot-on with everything right now.
