You know I’m a straight hip-hop head, so I’m limited…I’ve always liked Nirvana and well, what’s a discussion about music without mentioning The Beatles…But I am going to have to go with Sublime, Earth, Wind & Fire, and the Roots as my favorite bands…Besides The Beatles, Silverchair, and Radiohead, what bands impress you Tony?

Jurassic 5. Why? To quote them:
“Original beats with real live MC’s
Playground tactics
No rabbit in a hat tricks
Just that classic
Rap shit from Jurassic”
Also: Rage Against The Machine.

Our Lady Peace:
You know how sometimes the right song can come along and completely fit what you’re feeling at that time, and if you’re lucky, pick you up? Their song “Life” did that for me.
“How many time have your friends let you down?
Just open up your heart…Life is waiting for you, it’s all messed but we’re alive.”
Simple but it hit the right nerve.

Mmm…This one is tough. I think my favourite band has to come from this list (in brackets what element I love most from each band):
1. Billy Talent (pure angst and insane guitars)
2. Alkaline Trio (morbid vocals & beats)
3. Brand New (progressively emo & best lyrics ever)
4. Rise Against (honest, true band)
5. Muse (uniqueness)

I have a secret crush on Babes in Toyland. Perhaps it’s because I’m divorced, single, and haven’t been dating screaming, angry women in the last few years.
Anyways… they aren’t around anymore but when you hear that growl in Kat Bjelland’s voice, you’ll pee yourself. That’s one wicked chick!

Wow great suggestions so far everyone. Props!
One of my all-time faves is an Australian band called Silverchair, they just came out with a new album a week or two ago. Listen to the entire album at http://chairpage.com.
Their music is whimsical, magical, and uplifting all at the same time. Amazing music with some killer creativity. Definitely worth a listen.

I love bands that exude passion - the ones who put out songs you listen to and immediately, without really paying full attention to the lyrics, feel what the song is trying to say.
Bands like The Calling, Muse, and Stereophonics all do that in their own ways. None of these bands would be categorized with the “classics,” but they really know what it means to feel a song.
I am still envious of you for having seen Muse live. Gr.
