There’s Always a ‘Best’
I’m sitting here in a lab in the engineering building. I was choosing a place to sit and do my work, and of course I chose the best chair (cushion, wheels, and reclining) in the room to sit. All the other chairs are hard and uncomfortable. And it hit me.

There’s always a best chair in the room.
If not a best chair, then the best view in the room.
Or maybe the best place to sit in order to get noticed?
No matter. The point is there’s always a ‘best’. And the best will always be either noticed, selected, and/or publicized.
Are you the best chair in the room? Are you the one that people seek?
If you’re answer is yes, you are my hero.

The problem with being the best chair in the room is that you have to put up with every butt wanting to sit on you.
I put up a quote the other night that said ‘the nail that sticks out attracts the most hammers’. Unfortunately, we live in a world where the best is not always the most rewarded.
I’m guessing that chair on the left will last a lot longer. :)

Its a tough, hard road for a new chair after it leaves the factory. Get stolen from your master in the office, or get sat on all the time eventually making you squeak. But even though its tough, its good to know that you are the best around, and that someone thinks so as well.
Being a crappy chair is a long life of uselessness.

I’m the best….hands down….and you’re taking a picture of me right now as I’m posting (it’s 12:31AM)…and Andrew just threatened to break your camera. Especially when I spread the wisdom of Yoda…”the best, I AM”

There is no better, only different.

I like your perpsective James. You’re totally right Doug. The best is not always the most rewarded. It’s relevant to the quote:
“The harder your try, the luckier you get.”
Forgot where I saw this one but I dig it.
