Wanna Watch Me Play Music?
Posted on 22 May 2007
I got inspired tonight to play some guitar. Then I realized… I talk about my music and how I love music, blah blah on geekwhat every now and then. But there’s no real picture or credibility to go with the words. It’s like me telling you how awesome my trip to Iceland was. But if you haven’t been there before, it’s hard for you to follow what I’m saying…
Anyway, here’s a song that I’ve been working on recently (original):
First person to type out the lyrics to this song can name it ;) Write the lyrics and title suggestion in your comment.

What? No title already? You really need to talk to Pat Pattison (instructor at Berklee and writer of several books on lyric writing. Write to the title, write to the title… you konw the drill. As far as I know, you’re too young to remember Pete Frampton and his song “Freebird”, but there’s a striking simlarity.
I’m wondering, are you “free as a bird” because you’re out of school now? And there’s a line when slurred it sounds like “I’m already hired, so what’s the point of this?” ha ha ha!
Write to the title. ‘n that’s all I’ve got to say about that!

Hey Tony, thanks for the comment! The line “..free as a bird” is referencing the Beatles song released in 1995. I sometimes reference them in my lyrics, another track I wrote called “The Sixties Shine” featured a lyric from one of their tracks too.
“I’m already hurt….” is the line that sounds like “hired” :)
I disagree that writing to the title is a must. It does help to form ideas around a central theme or topic, but sometimes it’s nice to leave it open till the end. I’m sure Sergey and Larry didn’t name Google before they wrote the search algorithm…

My old poetry teacher used to say (and it applies here): not naming your creations is like having children with no names…
Peace and thanks for sharing!

nobody has typed out the lyrics yet so here goes:
and everytime i try, i find another reason to hide. (i’m not stupid). i’m not a friend of time, so i’m about as free as a bird. i’m already hired (jk hurt!), so what’s the point of this? i’m already hurt; it’s already done. i’m already happy.
(repeat)
i said, i’m already happy. i said, i’m already happy.
yay!
