How’s Asia Tony?
Glad you asked =) For starters, it’s hot. Humid too. Tanktops and shorts and sandals is the way to go here. The plane ride here was not bad. Bad move on my part to drink a cup of coffee during the first half of the flight. Not much shut-eye during the 13 hour flight. ;)
I’ve moved in to the apartment and settled in. Earlier tonight I watched Transformers with friends from my company, for my thoughts (and to share yours), go to the Transformers thread started by Inderjit in the forum.
One of my hot discoveries here that my manager showed me earlier today:

Ever heard of it? Sling Media. A super awesome service. Basically, I can watch USA cable TV via the Internet LIVE here in Taiwan with Sling Media. It is a pretty hot service so perhaps I’m behind on the times? You only need to buy their box for $120 or so and you can connect it to your TV at home and watch it anywhere in the world where there is Internet. Super cool huh?
I was watching a 2AM Conan O’ Brien rerun in the afternoon today. =)

I’m confused, do you have to have cable at home to get cable shows on the sling media?

Yea, so basically whatever channels you have at home… you are able to watch them via Internet as long as you have a Sling box connected to your home TV.

What happens if someone changes the channel at home ?

I’ve heard it depends.
Two cases:
1. When you’re changing channels via Internet, the channels are changing on the TV at home.
2. The two are completely independent of each other.
This only happens if you split a line to both your sling box and the TV.
I think that if you dedicate a coaxial line in your house to the sling box, then no worries at all.
Sling should pay me for this.
