A server (the black box at the top), in its most stripped-down definition, is basically a really big hard drive to store files. Various users can send and receive data from the server.

When you use Gmail or Yahoo Mail:

1. You first send your username/password to a Google server.
2. You then receive your e-mail from the server.

Now let’s think about communication with God:

1. You send your thoughts to God through prayer.
2. You receive from God in the form of your everyday experiences.
