Do you eat your vitamins on a daily basis?
Or do you skip out every few days because you forget?

Not gonna lie, I’m the latter. And you probably are too. You see… I realized that vitamins are what separate the successful people from the mediocre-ly successful ones. Michael Jordan probably practiced on time every single morning 99.9% of the time, Jamie Foxx practices the entire movie script before the first rehearsal – so much that he even remembers the lines of his co-actors, etc. etc.

It’s the super small (deceivingly small) things like remembering to eat your vitamins every single day that shape you into a consistent, reliable, and consequently successful person versus a person that just eats them when they remember.

Do you want to be mediocre? Or do you want to win?

Eat your vitamins for the win. I’m starting today. How about you?

They’re happy to see Geekwhat.com back online after a year…

I’m back!

As those of you who followed my website before already know, it’s been about a year since I’ve actively written blog entries on Geekwhat.com. Well, to be fair, the frequency of entries just reduced more and more as the year progressed. And then the site fell off the internet momentarily… and came back online, but was not in blog form.

It’s almost as if Mr. Geekwhat is a professional athlete that went through a sports injury that consumed him, and now he’s finally back and healthy again. Every week, I get at least one or two colleagues asking, ‘Hey… what happened to Geekwhat.com man?’ I never know what to say… but today I am ready to announce to the world:

I’m officially back… and I’m here to stay.

I missed blogging on Geekwhat.com and I missed conversations with you all!

I have a few goals for the site:

Reclaim its place on the web. I plan to reclaim Geekwhat’s position as the first hit on a Google query for ‘Tony Chung’. Sounds goofy, but it’s a goal of mine. We need to re-spark those conversations that ignited Geekwhat back in the day!

Generate the dough. Before the site slowly went offline, it was generating a healthy USD$75-$130 per month legitimately. Not a lot of money, but any money is good money right? Well, I plan to get it back at least to this status and perhaps even higher if I’m ambitious.

Consistent posts. I plan to post consistently on the blog, at least one to two posts a week.

I actually feel a bit touched right now. I miss having conversations through the blogosphere with friends such as Doug Karr: your site looks phenomenal now, looks like you’ve really taken your blog (slash business?) to a new level, congrats! Also Louis Gray: 19,000+ readers? That is simply remarkable, I still remember when we were just starting out with chunky RSS icons Congrats brother!

I have realized that Geekwhat.com is like my very own baby, I created it from the ground up and I need to foster it and get it back on its two feet. Can you guys help me out? Let’s all take care of Geekwhat.com by creating meaningful conversations here. I’m sure he would love that

I’ve been offered a few jobs and offers through geekwhat.com. But nothing remotely close to the status of the big baller bloggers.

The rags to riches stories of the successful bloggers on the Internet really amaze me. These guys basically sit at a computer, churn out (good content) blog posts, and reel in the big bucks. And I mean big bucks. We’re talking millions, enough dough not to have to work for an employer ever again. Let’s look at a few examples:

Michael Arrington. He writes Techcrunch.com, a blog that features the newest tech startups in the Silicon Valley. He gets exclusive information before others and has a ginormous viewership.- Perks: He is reeling in $60,000+ per month from ads on his site.

Robert Scoble. Robert is a technology enthusiast and one of the most read bloggers on the Internet. I had an interview with him earlier this year, lucky for me, Robert likes me =)-Perks: Robert got picked up by Microsoft to become their evangelist. He then got recruited by Podtech.net to become Vice President — he also has a show there. He recently got hired by Fast Company magazine to write his own column.

John Chow. John provides tips to bloggers on how to make money online through advertisements and other strategies. I also chatted with him earlier this year in an episode for Talkmatic. (a good one).- Perks: John makes over $10,000 a month on his site.

These bloggers all have very strong authority on the subject that they are writing about. They are also consistent, devoted, and respond to their communities. They found a niche and destroyed all potential competitors. Sounds familiar?

It’s a business! Your thoughts?

Louis Gray has posted an interesting discussion on how RSS readers defeat the involvement of readers in active discussions on blog entries. Instead, we just read and click ‘next’. I think he makes a good point.

As Scoble and Israel wrote in ‘Naked Conversations’, blogs are about community and public discussions. I think a blog is only as good as the amount of perspectives it provides. These perspectives are provided by the readers via comments and trackbacks.

Communities rock, Single perspective entries don’t.

With that said, I’m really thankful for all of you who comment on my entries and share your two cents. Without you all, this blog wouldn’t be as interesting.

Keep the comments coming! I love getting e-mails with new comment notifications (except when it’s spam :p).

Once tagged, the person must write 5 things about him/herself that others may not know. So here are my juicy five:

1. I’ve never had a cavity before (though I’m a fan of the sweets).
2. I used to be a huge MC Hammer fan (I learned his dances and drew pics of him).
3. I haven’t paid a single penny for my undergraduate college tuition.
4. I’ve starred in a movie.
5. I was born (and spent more than 10 years of my life) in Texas.

Here are the 5 bloggers I’m tagging:

Shel Israel Naked Conversations
Nii Ahene The Critical Path
Noah Kagan Okdork.com
